31 May Last Week in 1st Grade…
… the students were blessed with a gorgeous day to explore the wonderful creatures in God’s creation, at the Oregon Zoo. The trip focused on identifying animals in the 5 classifications of vertebrates: fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals, and the 4 classifications of invertebrates: mollusks, cnidarians, echinoderms, and arthropods, for our Animal Unit in Science. The students also identified which continents animals live on, in the wild, for our Geography studies. The students had a wonderful time observing and discussing many different animals and working with each other to complete their project paper. The classes also enjoyed a sack lunch picnic near the large grassy area of the Zoo.
