09 Mar High School Girls Basketball Season Review

It has been a joy these past three months to watch the High School girls basketball team grow in their skill, love for the game, and their devotion to each other. The team that ended the season was not the same team that began. During the duration of this basketball season every single girl worked hard in order to accomplish their individual and team goals. As team manager I saw up close their struggles, but also their desire to push through for their team. Their devotion to the team outweighed it all, and they persevered through it all with a good attitude. I saw how they were able to encourage each other when they faced trials, and in their successes they had humility and grace.
I remember one night in the middle of the season when they lost to Southwest Christian by one point. I saw their disappointment, but that night I also saw something that became evident throughout the rest of the season: drive – drive to stick together no matter what. Instead of giving up they worked harder; instead of being discouraged they continued to encourage one another and fight harder. I saw that this was because this team’s foundation is not based on whether they win or lose, but rather the teamwork and most importantly, their knowledge of who they are in Christ. I am so proud of the team, and I am so thankful that I am friends with such an amazing group of girls.
