This week in Mock Trial…

… the St. Stephen’s Mock Trial team competed in the annual MiniMock, hosted by Classroom Law Project. MiniMock is a statewide mock trial scrimmage hosted at Multnomah County Courthouse each December, as preparation for the upcoming Regional Mock Trial tournaments hosted statewide on Saturday, March 3.

This year, our SSA team is distinguished by its exceptional dedication to listening carefully, thinking strategically, and working closely as a team. Thanks to some additional coaching from Grant Engrav, of Engrav Law Office in Portland, our students were more prepared than ever to meet an experienced team from St. Mary’s in the second round of the evening. They were responding to complex objections with thoughtful rationale and exceptional knowledge of the case material and its rules. Although half of the team this year had never competed in a trial before, their dedication to preparation beforehand and their countless hours of practice resulted in a performance which presages good things to come in March’s regional competition.

Team members and their family members enjoyed the traditional post-MiniMock ice cream at Salt & Straw after the competition.
