06 May State Choir Competition
The SSA Festival Choir made it to State! There are 135 other schools in the 1A/2A category, and we were selected as one of the top 12 to compete! The choir traveled to the LaSells Stewart Center at Oregon State University in Corvallis on Monday, April 29, for an early 9am performance under the direction of Deborah Killebrew. The choir sang their best of the year and made us all proud. After the performance, the choir students participated in a sight-singing evaluation, which is a big test of their rhythm and pitch reading skills. While this wasn’t our year to win, our scores improved over last year, and we had a great day! If you haven’t heard them sing yet this year, you can hear the Festival Choir perform the State competition songs at the Evening of Fine Arts concert on May 21.
