St. Stephen’s Academy Hires New Dean of Academics

It is our great pleasure to announce that we have hired our next Dean of Academics. Mr. Travis Koch will be joining us this summer after his duties are complete at The River Academy in Wenatchee, Washington. Mr. Koch (pronounced Cook) is a well-respected educator whose background makes him uniquely positioned to help St. Stephen’s Academy continue to develop into a leading classical Christian school in both this region and throughout the country. He holds degrees in history from Stanford University (BA), where he graduated with honors and a Yale MA. While completing his degrees he was an instructor and led seminars for both undergraduate and graduate students. He received numerous academic awards and honors during his time at these fine institutions.

For the last three years Mr. Koch has taught humanities for The River Academy, and spent a significant portion of his time there writing and developing curriculum in writing, history, and theology. He has also coached a very successful mock trial team that has placed in the top 10 in Washington state the last two years. A bit of a renaissance man, Mr. Koch has been a bowyer (made archery bows) and pursued hobbies as diverse as bookbinding and butterfly collecting.
