Middle School Track and Field Season Review

Middle School Track and Field Season Review

by Grace J., 11th Grade
This year Hannah H. and I had the privilege of helping the Middle School Track team under Coach Hannah Scharer. We got to see each of these athletes grow in strength, humility, and kindness. This year’s season had its ups and downs. Each person on the team had dealt with things like sprained ankles, hurt knees and feet. All of this to show their dedication to run and give their best every practice. They put in so much work during practice that it made the track meets all the more enjoyable to watch, seeing their hard work paying off. During every race the team would gather around the track to cheer them on and no matter the outcome, each runner was met with encouragement. Furthermore, each athlete treated their teammates and fellow athletes with kindness and humility. Because of this encouragement of their teammates, each runner found joy in running, no matter what.

My favorite memory from this season was during one of the last few practices of the season. After doing a shorter workout we decided to have a little boys vs. girls relay race. We didn’t have enough boys or girls to have a full relay team, so Coach Hannah and I jumped in and ran with them. It was so fun to run it with them but also allowed us to see how hard all of them had to work and how much each of them valued and encouraged their fellow teammates. The Middle School Track team has such a fantastic attitude and hard work mentality, and it shows on and off the track. Great job this season! Go Archers!
