Archers Middle School Cross Country Places 2nd in League Championship

by Coach Matthew Friend

Last week, the Archers Middle School cross country team completed its season competing at the Metro Christian League championship meet at Southwest Christian School. The boys and girls Archers team finished a great season by placing second in the entire league! The boys missed first place position by only eight points to OES.

Caleb B. finished a strong season for the boys, earning first place in the league. Caleb finished in first place in four other meets this season. Ian B. and Mateo S. also finished in the top ten standings, placing third and sixth, respectively. Charlotte F. had a strong final championship race, finishing in fourth place for the girls and earning a personal record time in the race.

This year our team was comprised mostly of 6th grade runners and was led by a few older more experienced runners. Since we had a relatively younger squad, the team performance this year was quite impressive and bodes well for future years. Thanks to Eric Marshall and John Jackson for serving as assistant coaches this season.
