Discover the Rich Legacy of Classical Education

The classical education model at St. Stephen’s Academy, refined and proven for over 2,500 years, has been the cornerstone of training great leaders, scientists, and scholars of Western civilization. Our curriculum is structured around three intersecting paths— grammar, logic, and rhetoric — that generally align with students’ natural stages of development. These paths facilitate the growth of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, equipping students with lifelong learning tools. We invite parents to observe our vibrant classrooms to see this classical method in action.

Classical Christian Education at St. Stephen’s Academy

1

A Timeless Foundation

St. Stephen's Academy offers a classical Christian education rooted in timeless principles. Our curriculum encompasses a liberal arts course of study, including subjects like theology, philosophy, history, literature, science, math, logic, rhetoric, music, and art. We aim to equip students with wisdom and eloquence, preparing them to apply eternal truths to the challenges of their generation.
2

Guided by Noble Values

Our academic program and cultural life are guided by the principles of goodness, truth, and beauty. This classical model of education, developed over 2,500 years, emphasizes moral and intellectual virtues, self-governance, and leadership preparation.
3

The Trivium and Quadrivium

At St. Stephen's Academy, we use the seven liberal arts as both subjects and stages of learning, with the trivium (grammar, logic, rhetoric) and the quadrivium (music, arithmetic, geometry, and astronomy) playing essential roles. Our curriculum instills knowledge, wisdom, eloquence, and virtue, emphasizing the glory and honor of God and love for one's neighbor.
4

A Modern Revival

A recent revival in classical Christian education, inspired by Dorothy Sayers' "The Lost Tools of Learning," recognizes the significant connection between the Trivium and the development of children.
5

Music and Mathematics

Music holds a special place in our curriculum, and we prioritize formal music instruction. Mathematics, including Singapore Math and Pre-Calculus, promotes logical thinking and understanding of God's order in nature. Geometry, theology, and biblical studies are integral components of our curriculum.
6

Handling the Word of Truth

At St. Stephen's Academy, we prepare students to handle the word of truth and understand God's redemptive plan, with apologetics as the capstone course in 12th grade. Our classical Christian education is rooted in the Westminster Confession of Faith, and our mission is to develop thoughtful, virtuous, and articulate individuals.
