Mrs. Lauri Puttman - Rhetoric Math
BS Secondary Education (Major in Math, double Minor in Computer Science and Physics) - University of Idaho Years of teaching experience: 13 Years teaching at St. Stephen's: 6 Why I teach at St. Stephen's: I teach at St. Stephen's for two reasons. First, I wanted to be able to teach at the same school that my boys were at. Second, I wanted to be part of a school that strives to teach its student how to love learning and to be a light to the world around them. Philosophy of teaching: I love math, and I love to show kids that math is everywhere in God's creation. Too often math is thought of as a necessary evil, and I want to dispel that myth. Hobbies: knitting, cooking/baking with my husband
Mrs. Julie Southgate - Aesthetics and Culture, U.S. History and Economics
BA History - University of Oregon Masters in Hospital and Healthcare Administration - University of Minnesota Post-Graduate Training - Pew Fellowship - University of California, San Francisco Years of teaching experience: 3 Years teaching at St. Stephen's: 3 Why I teach at St. Stephen's: In teaching, I hope to be used by God to expand the kingly reign of His Son in the hearts and minds of our students. Philosophy of teaching: My philosophy of teaching is rooted in Proverbs 9:10, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom..." Since God is the source of all truth, seeking Him is the goal of education. Christian virtue and a good understanding of God's creation will be its fruits. Hobbies: gardening, music

BS Physics - Hillsdale College M Litt Modern History - University of St. Andrews Years of teaching experience: 2 Years teaching at St. Stephen's: 2 Why I teach at St. Stephen's: I came to St. Stephen's because I needed a job, and because, in God's providence, the hiring committee liked my application. I have stayed at St. Stephen's because I have found here a remarkable commitment on all levels - staff, parents, students and board - to the noble mission of excellence in Christian education. Philosophy of teaching: Learning is painful, but teaching helps students to appreciate the pain. As a teacher, I aim to train students to articulate their knowledge well, and then to receive correction eagerly - to seek wisdom as a baby cries for milk.
